RJD to appoint Jethmalani, Rabri for Rajya Sabha

Patna, May 25: Eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani and former chief minister Rabri Devi shall be nominees of Bihar’s ruling RJD for the biennial polls to the Rajya Sabha subsequent month.


JethmalaniRJD chief Lalu Prasad has lastly accepted the title of Ram Jethmalani and Rabri Devi as party nominees for polls to the Rajya Sabha,” Rashtriya Janata Dal leaders near him stated on Wednesday.


The nationwide and state parliamentary boards of RJD final week licensed Lalu Prasad to pick candidates for the upper house of parliament.


“Lalu has favoured Ram Jethmalani for 2 factors. First he’s a BJP baiter after being expelled from the saffron party in 2013, and second is that he has been serving to Lalu within the multi-crore fodder scam instances,” one other RJD chief stated.


With 80 legislators within the Bihar meeting, two RJD nominees for the 5 Rajya Sabha seats will get by simply.


RJD’s ally Janata Dal-United will nominate two candidates for the Rajya Sabha polls with 71 legislators, and the Bharatiya Janata Party will propose one candidate with 53 legislators.


The time period of 5 sitting Rajya Sabha MPs from Bihar will expire in July.
