Joginder Paul Renowned Urdu author passed away

New Delhi, April 23 : celebrated Urdu author and author Joginder Paul died on Friday when a protracted sickness. He was 90.


Paul had been laid low with age-related unwellness and was hospitalized for a few weeks.


He is survived by his married woman Krishna, sons Sudhir and Sunit, and female offspring Sukrita.

Born on Sep five, 1925 in Sialkot in present day Pakistan, Paul migrated to India at the time of Partition. His maternal language is Punjabi, however his primary and school education was in Urdu medium.


He did his M.A. in English literature, that he tutored till he retired because the principal of a post-graduate school in Maharashtra. Paul selected to place his inventive expression in Urdu language, as he believed that Urdu is “not a language however a culture” and for him writing is to be within the culture. He was a part of the Progressive Urdu Writers’ Movement.


Paul’s fictional works are openly scanned not solely in India however additionally in Pakistan. Altogether his writings he exposed social ills and every one his characters are packed with life and their struggles.


Among his works, Dharti Ka Kaal (1961), Main kyun Socum (1962), Mati Ka Idrak (1970), Khudu baba Ka Maqbara (1994), Parinde (2000), Bastiyan (2000) (all short stories), Nahin Rehman babu (collection of short stories together with some that were 2 liners), Amad va Raft (1975), Bayanat (1975) (both novelettes), Be Muhavara (1978), Be Irada (1981) (both short fiction), Nadid (1983), Khavab-i-rau (1991) (both novels) are most asked for.


The South Asian Literary Recordings Project (Library of Congress New Delhi Office) has acquired twenty two works by and concerning him.


Paul won all the necessary awards that an Urdu author are able to do. His awards embody Iqbal Samman for 1999-2000, the SAARC lifetime achievement Award, and an Urdu writing award in Qatar.
